Waitlisted Courses
If a course has reached maximum capacity during registration, a student may place themselves on the waitlist for the course.
If a student is on a waitlist for a course section, this will not appear under Current Courses but will be listed on the same screen under a Waitlisted Sections header.
Being on a waitlist is not a guarantee that the student will be moved into the section, and it is not calculated in the overall enrolled hours.
Students will be notified if an available spot opens in a section and must take action to accept the seat.
How It Works
When a spot opens on a waitlist:
- The next student on the waitlist will be notified of the opening and informed of any holds the prevention of registration or other registration restrictions including holds, max hours, course eligibility (pre/corequisites), duplication of courses, time conflicts, etc.
- The student will have 72 clock hours to accept or decline the spot. During that time, they may also resolve any registration restrictions in order to accept the spot.
- If the student takes no action within 72 clock hours, or is unable to resolve any holds or restrictions, they will be moved to the end of the waitlist and the next student on the waitlist will be notified.
Failure to comply with the following rules may result in the student being dropped from waitlisted courses:
- Students may not register for one section of a course and be placed on a waitlist for another section.
- Students may not waitlist more than one section of a course.
- Students may not waitlist for courses offered at the same time as a course in which they are already registered.
- Students must meet all prerequisites or corequisites for a waitlisted course.
- Students may not waitlist for a course which will put them beyond their maximum allowed credit hours.
- Students with registration holds may be dropped from their waitlisted courses.
Important Notes
- Tuition and fees for waitlisted courses will not be charged until the student is officially registered in the course.
- Waitlisted courses are not included in the overall enrolled hours. Once a student is officially registered for a course, only then will enrolled hours be adjusted. This may be important for certain financial aid eligibility
- Being on a waitlist is not a guarantee that the student will be moved into the section, and it is not calculated in the overall enrolled hours.
